A stranger proposed to me on the streets,why do things like this always happen to me?

I was just walking down the street, when all of the sudden a boy proposed with flowers. By the way, I'm not trying to make things obvious. I look like Christine from Phantom of the Opera, but I'm REALLY lanky. When I mean lanky, I mean Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas lanky. After I said "no" in a polite way, I heard his friends say in the back. "YOU JUST GOT REJECTED!" to him.
