My friend and boy kissing problem...?

My friend likes a boy and we think he likes her back. She would go out with him but cannot imagine kissing him, she admits he's not the best looking lad, a bit lanky and spotty but hes nice and they are great friends. I tried to convince her that they can go out without kissing but she is adamant that you have to kiss when you're going out with someone... HELP! How can she kiss him with confidence or go out with him without doing it.
