Why is my cat so thin?

Well my kitty Sparta is very, very thin. He's about a year and nine months old and we do feed him three times a day. When I pet him I can feel his ribs very well, but it's not actually noticeable when you look at him and no he definitely does not have worms. Could it be that he's just naturally long and lanky?
